After receiving the title for this brief I felt that it was a bit of a clichéd project. This is because I felt it was too typical for us as students to do a student orientated brief. However when I got stuck into the project I thoroughly began to enjoy it and felt the subject matter was of interest to me and I obviously have enough knowledge of students being one myself. I decided to do a drawing orientated project as I feel this has been missing from the course so far. I have never done anything in the style of a graphic novel before so felt this was the perfect opportunity to do so. I began drawing several characters in different styles and in the end I chose a character inspired by Love and Rockets by Jamie Hernandez. I designed a plan for the story and decided my lead character would encompass all the stereotypes aimed at students and gathered the main vices that we had researched directly from students themselves. My story ran along the lines of an incredibly lazy student who rarely goes into college, goes out, drinks too much, takes drugs and sleeps around. However in the end she gets pregnant and because of her lifestyle she has a miscarriage. The story was not intended to have a message however the feedback I got from people was evident that there were subtle characteristics aimed at making students aware of the effects of what this kind of lifestyle can have on you and other people.
